The short answer
A smile makeover is a plan for several teeth at once, built tooth by tooth. It may combine porcelain veneers, crowns and bridges and, depending on the case, whitening or braces. You see a preview before any tooth is changed, the work is done in stages that you approve one by one, and it takes from a few weeks to several months.
Ano ang kasama sa smile makeover?
It depends on your teeth. Each tooth gets what it needs, and not every tooth needs something. A plan may include:
- Porcelain or ceramic veneers, to change the shape or shade of the front of a tooth.
- Porcelain, ceramic or zirconia crowns, for a tooth that is badly broken or worn, or needs more change than a veneer gives.
- A bridge, to replace a missing tooth.
- Whitening or braces, only when the case calls for them.
How the plan is built
- A digital scan and a panoramic X-ray show what each tooth needs.
- Healthy teeth and gums come first: any decay or gum problem is treated before cosmetic work begins.
- You see a preview of the proposed result before any tooth is changed.
- You hear the plan and the cost before anything starts.
Done in stages
The work is done in stages, and you approve each stage before the next one begins. While the final veneers or crowns are being made, you wear temporary ones, so you are not left without teeth in between. Veneers and crowns are prepared under local anaesthetic.
Gaano katagal?
| If your plan includes | It usually takes |
|---|---|
| Veneers or crowns only | A few weeks |
| Braces or implants first | Several months, because those come before the veneers or crowns |
What we want you to know first
- Enamel may be removed. Depending on the case, a veneer may need a thin layer of enamel removed, and a crown needs more of the tooth shaped. Where enamel is removed, it cannot be undone.
- Not everyone needs everything. Sometimes whitening or a small repair is enough, and the dentist will say so.
- Results differ from person to person, because every mouth is different.
Magkano?
It depends on how many teeth are involved and what each one needs, so there is no one figure for everyone. You hear the plan and the cost at your consultation, before anything starts. Cash and e-wallets are accepted.
Questions worth asking at your consultation
- Which teeth need work, and what does each one need?
- Will any enamel be removed, and from which teeth?
- Can I see the preview before deciding?
- How many stages, and about how long will it take?
- What happens if I want to stop after a stage?
